Today only two pubs survive..no bakery no butchers no banks small market gone from once a week to once a month...slowly dying unfortunately.
Late 80's?
Beautiful place on the River Stour. So calming.
This is a brilliant documentary- 3rd time wacthing it now 😆
Could be summer 1988 as they mention “new drinking hours” presumably on about the later pub drinking hours that came in to effect August 1988, F reg Orion spotted too, first registered August 1988
I visited my son living in New York for Christmas. There was a local corner shop and we went to get food and found they stocked Wilkin and son Christmas puddings.
No covered in tattoos head to toe, clean shaven, correct and tidy uniform ,even the WPC. Anyway 11:24 its a sp&z chariot.
come on TWC!!!
London on sea 😡
They really have ruined Clacton.
Stop moaning about it, London brought you a lot of business back in the day.
@@alex-E7WHU I'm more concerned about now to be honest. I saw an elderly London ( cockney) couple call a single woman in her thirtys a f'ing C because she forget to put a divider on the conveyor belt of the checkout. Obviously not all Londoners are arseholes but there are enough to ruin the town.
Bringing there drug and alcohol problems to the town, all parasites 😡
She's brilliant 👏 always liked her, very pretty lady, & so funny ❤
I met her many years ago, she was sunbathing with a friend in Margate, lovely lady and she is huge, very impressive.
24:24: "I'm a little bit yeah! a little bit waaaay!"
At the start, that is not a "lone fishing boat", it's a bloody tourist boat ! You can hear them touting for customers !
I can recall seeing these sailing barges on the Thames at Woolwich, back in the 1940's. Mind you, they were becoming rare, I think, even then.
Wow this takes me back!
I wonder what become of them all . Many will be diseased.
My dad had a production company in Southend.(Lampshade productions) He had a contract to film the Southend airshow. For a moment I thought this was his footage! So many memories...thanks
Filmed by ourselves, Thanks
My favourite Doctor Who the Third Doctor Jon Pertwee he will be missed very terribly when a reunion of all the Doctors happen. From William Hartnell's First Doctor Who to Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor Who. There have been 15 Doctor Whos. Let's See: First Doctor Who William Hartnell Second Doctor Who Patrick Troughton Third Doctor Who Jon Pertwee Fourth Doctor Who Tom Baker Fifth Doctor Who Peter Davison Sixth Doctor Who Colin Baker Seventh Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy Eighth Doctor Who Paul McGann Ninth Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston Tenth Doctor Who David Tennant Eleventh Doctor Who Matt Smith Twelfth Doctor Who Peter Capaldi Thirteenth Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker Fourteenth Doctor Who David Tennant who was previously the Tenth Doctor Who Fifteenth Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa. But sadly the Third Doctor Who actor Jon Pertwee passed away in 1995. A month after his final Third Doctor Who interview.
What programme was this ? And who's the presenter ?? He looks like he just got out of bed !
Looks like a walking heart attack at any moment
No idea of the programme but the presenter is veteran broadcaster and local journalist Dennis Rookard (who did indeed die in 2010)
@alastairjamieson1192 Was a folk show presenter on Essex Radio in its early days in the early 80s, then was at BBC Essex in its early years at the other end of the 80s.
Wish he had made it to the revival
Quality of the brand does not wither. Henceforth years. Congratulateur.
The Third Doctor 🤘
As a local this about the time of the decline in Clacton. You certainly wouldn’t go filming there now you get mugged.. it’s a terrible place now…..
"Jam sandwiches" but with fluorescent yellow instead of the strawberry red stripes.
I'd like a pound for everytime Tony woodruff says "Err" 😂😂😂
Well it's different from the new norm of saying 'like' at every pause. 😁

I used to work in little Harrisons arcade
loved the staff in the caffe next door
The shorter of the 2 presenters has a very familiar voice. Does anyone know who it is?
The wedding picture you showed was my parents in May 1951. The second picture was the fur and feather club members, my grandfather Tom Jenkins was the secretary. I lived in Dunton from 1953-1963. My sister was born in Dunton so was my mother. The family has lived there since before WW1. Interesting video. No mention of the compulsory purchase of land by the corporation. Many elderly people lost their bungerlows and land. My Grandfather included.
Lovely to see another video of old Clacton!
Great to see. Thank you for uploading. I remember a raffle at the festival to win a Bonsai that had just been wired by John and I won it. I still have it 35 years later 👍
"Our friends from the police"....speak for yourself pal😂😂
Ok?
Why are you even here?
Metropolitan Police Traffic base, Chigwell; "Motorway One One". Essex Police Traffic also use it as a stop point. Been there many times
My grandparents had a caravan there our second home ❤ happy memories
Went there for several holidays in the 1960's. Butlins was still open then and on the pier the steel stella was a great roller-coaster.
Love the seaside this is really interesting.
Young Police Interceptors Roger!
Anyone go to the clacton pier raves??? absolutely Amazing Nights!!!
Yes, awesome nights 😊
You mean Oscars night club that used to be there right on the pier?
As a teenager in the 80's times seemed so much simpler . Tnx for the memories
People were slimmer .
Playstation hadn't arrived and fast food chains hadn't taken over . every weekend i was out the house from 9 in the morning till it got dark playing
@@johnshores4745 supermarkets moved in late 80;s that's when poor eating habbits came in. before then shops shut at 5pm you had to eat from your kitchen! your supermarket stock 75% ultra prossesed garbage!
I used to go there all the time as a kid. Best times of my life with my nan and grandad there too. My mother lives nearby in Holland on sea so I still go back often now. Thanks for uploading.
Great conversationalist at 8 mins 😅
Good times , no one bumping into you because they are looking down at their moron controller.
Bonito ambiente pero el agua esta muy fria😂 🇪🇸
*Come along folks, look at the cars, etc, and nominate a year! Thank you.*
Late 80s!
1991
The Plod Ford Scorpio has prefix D plate placing it in 1986/87 year. Since plod did not keep cars longer than 3 years this places us between 1986 to 1990. I would nominate 1989.
My guess would be summer 1988 seen the F-reg Orion was the newest car I noticed and they mention the “new drinking hours” when pub times changed in August of 88
This festival was held Saturday 14 September 1985, East End, Paglesham, Essex.
Nice report but the music doesn'r really fit into that decade.
Is that really what the pier looked like in the 80s??? God the place looks dead and decaying now :(
the pier is really nice now along with the seafront, what are you on about?? they just invested and built alot on the pavilion and pier

I will have look, not sure.
